Our mammography suite is complemented with the Siemens Mammography machine placed at Gunnison Valley Hospital in September 2001. The rounded contours of the plates help make the mammogram a little more comfortable. It also has the option of Optimal Compression, where the machine determines when there is enough compression. Mammography is suggested once a year for women after age 40. Mammograms are scheduled and provided only on a scheduled basis with diagnostic exams performed Tuesdays and Thursdays and screening exams performed Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. They are scheduled between 9:00am and 4:00 pm.
The patient can order the exam herself, unless it is for a diagnostic purpose, such as a discharge, lump, etc. For questions or examination scheduling call Joan at 435-528-2125.
Following each exam a report is sent to the ordering physician, from whom you must get your report.
